Identifying the Jezebel spirit Series

In Ezekiel 35:10, “Because you have said, ‘These two nations and these two lands will be mine, and we will possess them,’ although the Lord was there.”
When we are considering the aspects of the spirit of Jezebel we are immediately drawn to the obvious manifestations of the character of this evil; control, matriarchal imbalance, and a lording over us. However, we need to have a deeper spiritual study into the eternal nature of this demon. The spiritual truth behind the manifestations of this demon is to rob the Christian of their God-given, Jesus sacrificed, and Holy Spirit sanctified birthright.
This at the outset is Ezekiel’s prophecy to Seir [also known as Edom]. Edom is a spiritual type of the kingdom of Satan. His reign over the life of Esau brought about the destruction of the Edomites who for generations have stood against the nation of Israel [therefore, the Church of God] even though Jacob and Esau forgave each other.
Edom, also known as Seir, stands against God’s people throughout eternity. Their desire is to reap the birthright of Jacob by destroying the church by any means necessary. In Ezekiel’s prophecy they have declared the two lands theirs. What are these two lands?
The Land of Israel [God’s Promised Land] and the Kingdom of God
We need to have spiritual eyes to understand this declaration of scripture. We know one to be the land of Israel but the other is the sworn proclamation made by Satan in Isaiah 14:14, “I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will make myself like the Most High.”
The devil is giving sworn testimony to his intentions to rule and reign in the heavens. The two lands that possess the sole authority of the birthright of Israel [Jacob] through the work of the cross of Jesus Christ: Israel and God’s kingdom. Most theologians will tell you that these lands are Israel and Seir [Edom]. However, the scriptures have a duality of purpose in the writings. The Hebrew text shows two meanings, one in the temporal and the other in the spirit.
God’s chosen nation of Israel has been and always will be until the Second Advent the subject of ridicule, threats of being overthrown, and the determined goal of the world to destroy God’s people. The prophets prophesied about it even to this day and they predict the times of destruction, ruin, and exile. However, the probability of Israel’s overthrow has everything to do with their obedience or disobedience to the Word
of God. “But it shall come about, if you do not obey the Lord your God, to observe to do all His commandments and His statutes with which I charge you today, that all these curses will come upon you and overtake you:
• Cursed shall you be in the city,
• And cursed shall you be in the country [nowhere to hide].
• Cursed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl [famine].
• Cursed shall be the offspring of your body [barrenness and persecution to those living] and the produce of
your ground, the increase of your herd and the young of your flock [agricultural and equine upheaval].
• Cursed shall you be when you come in [even in Israel’s return from exile],
• Cursed shall you be when you go out [no other country to hide in].” Deuteronomy 28:15-19.
These curses listed are inspirational reasons for the spirit of Jezebel to permeate God’s nation and destroy His people. Sin produces destruction and death. If this demon can entice the nation, the church, indeed the individual Christian to walk in this way then she has won a great victory in keeping us from being an overcomer and conqueror. A defeated enemy, the work already done at the Cross, and sealed victory in the Holy Spirit all there for the taking except for our inability to walk in its power but rather we engage in the petty bitterness of the vile poison brought to us by the deception of a Jezebel. An attempt to steal our birthright or at the least render it useless.
The other aspect of the two-fold meaning behind the scriptures concerning Seir and Israel is Mt. Seir. It is no coincidence that a mountain is the subject of this evil spirit. Mountains represent majesty and power. The kingdom of Seir [Edom] had its eyes turned against the nation of Israel. It planned to establish its own kingdom in direct opposition to the kingdom of God [Ezekiel 35:2]. The attempt to steal the birthright of the nation of Israel [the Church] is explicitly laid out before us in Ezekiel 36:5, “Surely in the fire of My jealousy I have spoken against the rest of the nations, and against all Edom, who appropriated My land for themselves as a possession with wholehearted joy and with scorn of soul, to drive it out for a prey.”
Jezebel seeks to take possession of the soul and everything that she can lay her hands upon. She did it when Naboth’s vineyard [1 Kings 21:11-16] was unattainable. She put a plan in place to rob him of his inheritance.
In the progressive history of mankind her tactics have not changed. She seeks to take possession of the inheritance the Lord has given to you. At times, it will be a slow process taking piece by piece and part by part until you have realized that your gifting, your ministry, and your Christian walk has been compromised with the deception of Jezebel.
